College Library

The College Library, once housed in a modest room behind the Green Hall, has undergone a remarkable transformation. Recognizing the vital role of a well-equipped library, the PTA, at the request of students, staff, and the Principal, generously undertook the refurbishment of this invaluable resource as part of their annual community service project.

Officially reopened on January 12th, 2007, the library now boasts an extensive collection of over 10,000 books spanning Sinhala, English, and Tamil literature. Beyond its impressive book collection, the library offers a wealth of resources, including a diverse selection of educational DVDs and VCDs, the complete set of Britannica Encyclopedias, and invaluable reference materials such as government publications, past papers for all grades, annual bank reports, and teacher guides. A curated collection of esteemed periodicals, ranging from renowned publications like Time Magazine and Reader’s Digest to the local business magazine LMD, further enriches the library’s resources. Moreover, valuable articles of educational significance are meticulously extracted from old newspapers and carefully preserved for the benefit of both students and teachers.

Under the expert guidance of our dedicated librarians and facilitated by a user-friendly computerized search system, students can easily navigate the library’s extensive collection and select books that pique their interest. A convenient one-week borrowing period ensures equitable access to resources for all.

The College Library serves as a vital hub for learning, accessible to all students from Grades 9 to Advanced Level, as well as all college teachers. To further enhance the learning experience, the library is equipped with internet access. Additionally, students and teachers can conveniently obtain photocopies of essential reference materials.

This enhanced description effectively highlights the significance of the College Library, emphasizing its modern facilities, extensive resources, and the dedicated support provided by the library staff. It presents the library as a valuable asset that contributes significantly to the academic and intellectual growth of the student body.

Primary Library

The Primary Library, a project spearheaded by the dedicated PTA, was inaugurated on May 8th, 2008, and has since become a cherished haven for our youngest Familians. This inviting and homely space encourages a lifelong appreciation for reading among our primary school students.

Our dedicated Primary librarian plays a crucial role in cultivating a love for books within the younger grades. Grade 1 and Grade 2 students eagerly anticipate the weekly story-telling sessions, where captivating stories are brought to life with vibrant storytelling and engaging animations. Students from Grades 3 to 8 are encouraged to explore the library’s diverse collection and are permitted to borrow one book per week, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility.

Furthermore, we encourage students and past pupils to contribute to the growth of the library by donating gently used books. This generous initiative ensures that the library’s collection continues to evolve and provides valuable resources for current and future generations of Familians.
